It is reported that only 50000 pieces were made. The brick work is identical to the State Farm office. The firehouse is smaller and taller thought. It's "officially" called "Fire Station No.1" It measures 10 inches in height, 6 inches in width and 7 inches in length.

The Firehouse has a tiled roof and parapets. It is festooned in seasonal pine bough accented with red ribbons. The same theme is carried out on the decorations on the lamp post. The red fire engine has a Dalmatian playfully behind the wheel, while a fire fighter's boots are near the front tire. Two white fire hoses and a black ladder are carefully hung on hooks on the side of the building.

The front door is decorated with a green pine wreath accented with a red bow.

The piece, the box and paperwork are in Pristine condition, with no chips, cracks, scratches or other defect noted. The original light cord and bulb are also included.

In 1984 Department 56 introduced its first porcelain village the Dickens' Village. Named for the famous author Charles Dickens, it features buildings and accessories based on Victorian England and depicts the places and people one might visualize while reading one of his novels. Several of Dickens' stories have been the basis for the village's designs including: Nicholas Nickleby, David Copperfield, Oliver Twist, The Old Curiosity Shop, and especially A Christmas Carol. The Dickens' Village portrays all that is England including countryside pieces with thatched roofs, maritime pieces, beautiful churches, formidable castles and palaces, and some of the nation's most famous structures.
