The Crooksville China Company was established in Crooksville, Ohio, in 1902 and made semi-porcelain dinnerware and kitchenware. The company began having financial difficulties in the late 1950s, due to competition from Japanese imports and plastic dinnerware manufacturers, and closed its doors in 1959.

The creamy light yellow body has an embossed rim of fruit with a pencil thin red edge. The focal point of the platter is a beautiful rendering of tulips, daisies and chrysanthemums done in an autumn palette of rust, golden yellow and brown.
