Donghia Toscany Tall Clear Crystal Candlesticks
Vintage From Paul is pleased to offer these stunning clear crystal candlesticks from the Renowned Donghia for Toscany
Angelo Donghia enjoyed unprecedented success for an interior designer of the 1970's and 1980's. His private clients included such household names as Ivana and Donald Trump, Barbara Walters, Diana Ross, Mary Tyler Moore, Halston, Ralph Lauren and Neil Simon; his corporate clients were equally impressive. He decorated the Omni International Hotel in Miami, the Hotel InterContinental in New Orleans and PepsiCo’s world headquarters in Purchase, New York. Two of his companies produced furniture, textiles and wallcoverings for the design trade, and he licensed his designs for sheets, towels, china, glassware and giftware produced for the general public
True to the designs of Donghia, these candlesticks have a clean yet classic design. The wide base serves as the pedestal to four concentric rings graduated in size, leading to the upper central candle well.
The candlesticks stand 6-1/8 inches in height. The base measures 4 inches in diameter. The upper candle well accommodates a standard taper or candle.
Each of the available candlesticks (at this writing we have 2) is in Pristine condition with no defects/flaws noted. They each have their original Donghia labels attached. Donghia’s design philosophy, a less is more approach, extended to all his projects. Inspired by Jean- Michel Frank, Angelo Donghia noted in a 1977 New York magazine piece, “I feel that I’ve developed my own style that is as classic and minimal as the thirties style it reflects.” Furthermore, he understood what people like and enjoy living with and had an uncanny ability to turn that knowledge into comfortable, elegant designs. “He starts with a concern for living,” stated the late Grace Mirabella, both a client and Editor of Vogue.
