Made in Western Germany. A wonderful piece to commemorate Mom, or 1979.

The Goebel Frosted & Clear Crystal 1979 Mother's Day Plate is in Absolute Perfect Condition, and measures 8.5 Inches in diameter.

The detailing is simply magnificent! The frosted portion of the piece is the central focal point and is a raised butterfly. At the bottom of the plate, also slightly raised is a placard which reads "1979, Mother's Day" The plate has a gently scalloped edge, formed by over lapping leaves with beveled crystal cuts allowing light to be reflected in all directions, making this piece sparkle! On the back of the plate, there is a hook for hanging.

The insert which is included with the Goebel Frosted & Clear Crystal 1979 Mother's Day Plate reads: "Of what does Goebel Crystal Glass consist? The main contents of crystal glass are quartz, sand, lime, soda and potash. These materials, together with various refining agents are liquified at a temperature of 1,400 degrees Centigrade (2,550 degrees Fahrenheit). Out if the glowing mass, the glassware is shaped by skilled hands. the glassmaker's hands are magnificent and skilled tools, capable of great heights of achievement, yet lacking the uniformity of a machine. Mechanical accuracy is therefore neither to be expected nor is it desirable in the product. Slight variations in thickness, width or height as well as an occasional minute air enclosure (bubble) are unavoidable. Such features in no way degrade the crystal glass. On the contrary, they are the hallmark of handcrafted goods. Made in Western Germany"
