According to "Johnson Brothers Dinnerware Pattern Directory and Price Guide, Second Edition," by Mary Finegan, "Until the 1950's, the term "Snowhite" was included in the backstamp of all the pure white patterns with no further decoration. Although several styles were available, there was no distinction in naming between them. Often pieces will be found bearing the name and backstamp of one of these all-white patterns, but highly decorated in a variety of lovely designs on the front. Later, these completed pieces were sent elsewhere for decorating, either by onglaze painting or with lithographs (decals). This pattern name is not in Mary Finegan's book. She states there were several styles for which she was not able to apply pattern names.
