Tiffin produced this Thistle and Poppy needle etching known as Princess from 1913 to 1935. The Thistle and Poppy needle etching covers the entire bowl of the clear non optic water goblet. The foot has a bevel cut star design.

The etch shown here is the Princess etch which is intricate with Poppy and Thistle Leaves. This is a plate etching, where the glass was coated with wax, the design applied by tracing through the wax and then the piece was immersed in acid. The acid dissolved the glass where the design had been applied through the wax. It is called a plate etching because the design was on sheets of paper that were carefully laid onto the surface. It took skill and hand work to position these just right.

The Tiffin Princess Needle Etch Thistle & Poppy Water Goblets stand 6-7/8 inches in height, measure 3-1/4 inches in diameter at the top and 3 inches in diameter at the foot.
