Vintage From Paul is delighted to offer this rarely seen and simply stunning WJ Hughes Cornflower Tall Water Pitcher.
The Corn Flower cut was developed by W.J. Hughes in 1916. This light cutting on fine quality glass blanks was the choice of Canadian families for several generations. Although best known for their cuttings on Imperial Glass Company's "Candlewick" line, Hughes Corn Flower utilized blanks from around twenty different firms, many from North America, but also from Europe.
The distinctive 12-petaled flower with cross-hatched interior and radiating leaves was in production for nearly three quarters of a century, until 1987.
The WJ Hughes Cornflower Tall Water Pitcher stands 9-3/4 inches in height, measures 5 inches fromo spout to rim. The upper pitcher diameter (excluding the spout) is 3-3/4 inches while the base diameter is 3-5/8 inches.
The WJ Hughes Cornflower Tall Water Pitcher is in Mint condition with no defects noted. The glass is sparkling, the cutting crisp.
