Weil Ware Bambu Yellow Rice Bowls
Vintage From Paul is delighted to offer these stunning and very retro design, Rice Bowls from the Potteries of Max Weil in the Bambu Yellow pattern which was manufactured in the 1940's
The Bambu Dinnerware line, as created by Max Weil, came in yellow, coral or aqua with hand painted stalks of bamboo in black or a deep brown. The dinnerware was promoted in a 1942 magazine as the height of fashion. The pattern later developed into Malay Bambu which is similar in design, with the stalks of the bamboo having green leaves. Max Weil operated his potteries in the Los Angeles California area during the 1940's. He later chose to leave the pottery/dinnerware business and concentrate his design efforts in Weil Ceramics and Glass, responsible for many lovely head vases, and other items.
Each of the available Weil Ware Bambu Yellow Rice Bowls is in excellent condition. The Rice Bowls have no wear to the design...the colors are bright, the graphics crisp. Each of the four bowls has a very light, almost imperceptible crazing. As is common with this type of California clay pottery there is very light, almost imperceptible crazing, which is visible only upon very close ( and we mean very close!) inspection.
The Weil Ware Bambu Yellow Rice Bowls measure 4-7/8 inches in diameter at the top and they stand 2 inches in height. The Rice Bowls are marked with the Weil Burro and "Hand Decorated Weil Ware, Made in California, Des. Pat. 14960.6"
These Weil Ware Bambu Yellow Rice Bowls would be a welcomed addition to any collection of "Bamboo" , Weil Potteries or California Pottery collection.
