Max Weil emigrated to the United States in the early 1940s and settled in California where he opened a manufacturing plant to produce dinnerware, figurines, cookie jars, wall pockets and miscellaneous pottery and ceramic items. The company operated under the name California Figurines Company and later Weil of California.
Weil of California used strictly American clays and the “Weil Ware” dinnerware was all hand-painted and of high-quality. Especially popular with dinnerware collectors today are the Ming Tree and Bamboo patterns of Weil Ware dinnerware.
Max Weil died in 1954 and the company closed soon after.
