Vintage From Paul is delighted to offer this stunning Westmoreland Glass 1920's Orange & Black Cased Compote.

Casing was a process of taking various elements (glass dust, oil, pigmentation) and coating the piece, usually just the outside if hand painting is to be added, then firing those elements so that they and the clear glass become one colored piece. It is encased. It gives a dimensional effect, for when a bowl or compote is viewed from above, the color seems to float on the surface of the clear glass.

The under side of the foot of the compote has impressed the Westmoreland mark used from 1910 to 1929. This particular combination, orange and black was popular during the 1920's.

The Westmoreland Glass 1920's Orange & Black Cased Compote stands 3-7/8 inches in height, measures 6-1/4 inches in diameter at the top and 3-7/8 inches in diameter at the foot.

The Westmoreland Glass 1920's Orange & Black Cased Compote is in superb condition. The only thing that we do see is a slight rubbing to the black detailing on the rim.
